/tips-deargospelartiste-ten-tips-on-recording-your-gospel-album-nathaniel-bassey/

Today, we bring to you great wisdom from the very amazing and revered music minister, Nathaniel Bassey. He shares with us Ten vital tips every gospel recording artiste must put into consideration when working on a gospel album. Check it out ////////////

Tips On Recording Your Gospel Album
By Nathaniel Bassey
1. Be Led To Record
As Christians let the word of God and the leading of the Spirit be the basis. Every time I get a word to do something, I embark on it with an assurance knowing I have the backing of heaven. In this place there is divine provision and assistance. I can remember my late Mentor and Pastor and I, PASTOR ESKOR MFON, walking up the stairs in church before he went to be with The Lord. And he said to me, “I think it’s time to record.” For me this was a confirmation of what I’d been thinking about that season.
2. Record With A Purpose
For me these two reasons should be the main reasons for recording a gospel album:
  • To glorify God.
  • To minister, bless and impact lives.
Many record to make money, assume the lime light and become famous. But the truth is that any album that meets the two criteria above will always make money. But this should not be the focus.
3. Have Direction and Focus
Have you ever picked up a gospel album and you really can’t place the style or genre of the work? I have. Lots of Albums in this part of the world lack that definition and clear musical identity. You get to hear rap, jazz, juju, dance hall, worship, Afro, reggae etc, all in one album. Perhaps it’s a way of shooting in all direction expecting one of them to hit. No! No!
You should have a clear sound. Your identity. Something peculiar to you. If you sound close to Sir Ebenezer Obey, then don’t try singing like Marvin Sapp. Be true to your self. Your grace works in your place.
4. Get The Right Producer
There are great and skillful producers out there. But not all can properly articulate your sound. In fact, sometimes, the right person may not necessarily be a big name. I suggest you pray for direction in this area.
5. Be Prayerful
You should spend time praying before, during and after the recording. Remember a gospel album is a spiritual project. I remember a number of my studio recordings were worship sessions. Sometimes we’ve had to pray in the spirit extensively before tracking. We’ve had people so overwhelmed, they wept and just fell because we had a strong presence in the studio. People tend to feel the same presence in the recordings like we did feel in the studio.
6. Use Live Instruments
Since music has gone so digital, there is a tendency to do everything with computers. But even when I’m recording digitally, I try as much to fuse in as much analogue or live instruments as I possibly can. LIVE instruments bring LIFE to recordings. And that’s because people play them. You see, God gives grace, but people are the carriers of it. Some musicians, especially the anointed ones bring a certain grace and anointing to a work that digital recording can never produce.
7. Record With A Good Sound Engineer
This is where we really miss it in Naija. Notice I didn’t say record in a big or expensive studio. I have realized that a studio is only as good as the engineer in it. A studio can have the best of gear. But without an engineer with the requisite skill and knowledge to operate the gears, your recording would still sound poor. And the converse is also true. A studio might have just very basic gear, but with the right engineer, and you can achieve some high quality sound. My engineer in Lagos is very good. Though not your typical big studio, he seems to know his onions. And every time I’ve had to take the work abroad for further mixes, the engineers abroad have always spoken highly of his work. I recorded songs like IMELA, no other God, wonderful wonder, etc with him (you can reach him on: 08052222668 – alpha Junes studio).
What I also try to do to get that global sound on my recording is do my post productions abroad. Mix and master. In addition to recording abroad sometimes.
And you see, if God has given you a global vision, you can’t afford to do things like a local person. Sometimes the things that limit our music from having that global reach is poor and mediocre sound quality.
8. The Blessing
After your album is ready, get it blessed. I know some folks would argue with this. If you have a pastor, you may just have him speak a word of blessing over it. You see, the guys in the world understand this. They take their projects to places to invoke all sorts on them. I understand the place of a father’s blessing. Our generation is one that despises these things. But you see, I am a product of some of these things. It works. You may not know this, but before I ever released my first album, I wrote a letter to pastor E A Adeboye, my general overseer, just asking him to speak a word of blessing before I launch out. I can remember his words very vividly. And I tell you, they have not fallen to the ground. I was determined not to go the way of others.
9. Release Your Work
The beauty of this is that unlike the past, you have the Internet and social media. And independent online music platforms, and do not need record labels etc to help with distributing your work. And this is what I’ve learnt. If your work is good: anointed and well produced, the marketers will look for you. A good product will always sell itself.
I remember a number of them were reluctant to take up my work when I came out first. But I was not in a hurry, and just kept my focus. However, today, by God’s grace, the story is different.
10. Be Patient
“For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.” – Hebrews 10:36.
This is where many folks miss it. They want the break now. The thing must happen immediately. In our kingdom things don’t happen that way. God takes us through a process to mature us, and allow Christ to be formed in us.
So wait!
I’ll end with this little story.
I began playing the trumpet in 1991. Yes. Recorded my first album in 2008. But the impact of our ministry has only begun to be felt. So what happened in between? One word….. PROCESS! Character is formed and molded. God tries and works on our hearts, to make sure we don’t blow it when the spot light comes.
Here are some great christian producers. Check them out on facebook and connect with them… Emmanuel Juzzy Uzozie, Rotimi Akinfenwa, Wilson Joel, Wole Oni, George Adealao, etc.
I hope you find this article useful.
God bless you

linda-ikeji-lavishes-over-half-billion-on-luxury-home-shares-thought-provoking-story-of-her-life

Copied from @omojuwa
Read Linda Ikeji's story...
My name is Linda Ikeji. I’m a blogger. I’m 35 years old and I have never…never ever in my lifeslept with a man for money. Not only have I never done it, I have never even considered it…and here I am with a house that cost me over half a billion naira.
Listen, you are beautiful and you are stronger than you know. There’s absolutely nothing you can’t achieve if you set your mind to it, put your heart and soul into it.
Up until five years ago, I was a struggling entrepreneur. I can’t tell you how many offices in this Lagos I sat in for hours waiting to see people who could support my business…but most times, I never passed the reception area. But I never gave up and I never stopped believing and here I am today.
You too can be this..you can be better than this. No dream is too big, no dream is too small, no mountain is too high…it’s all in your mind. It’s all up to you. If you believe in you, in your God who is guiding you, then the sky is your starting point.
Please stop waiting around for a man to give to you…to put food on your table and put clothes on your back. I promise you, you can do it for yourself. Start thinking big, believe in yourself, be creative and start working. Realize that your dreams are valid…and nobody will make your dreams come true except you. Find what you are good at. Find something that you are passionate about. Work hard at it. Be consistent. Be patient. Start young. Even if you’re not young, it’s never too late!
I have been hustling since I left secondary school..started modeling before I entered university in 1998. Was running a modeling agency even while I was a student and made it a full time business after I left university. I never doubted that I would succeed one day, because I was determined. And please do not think this happened over night. I’ve been blogging since 2006…November this year will make it exactly 9 years. God, consistency and hard work brought me here today.
Unfortunately, a lot of our young girls aren’t patient and some are lazy, they want it quick and fast but it doesn’t work like that. Success takes time – takes hard work – takes passion – takes consistency – but more than anything else, it takes the Grace of God.
I was a 30 year old broke woman and on my birthday, a very sad and depressed me turned to God and begged him. I told Him you promised me, when will You fulfill Your promise? Am I not Your child? Have I not lived according to Your teachings? When will You bless me? Please God help me…and with tears in my eyes, I begged Him. I cried and I begged and I begged and I begged. A few months later my life changed. Never underestimate God’s love for you and the power of prayer.
And never stop working. Listen, I make enough money to hire so many people to work on this blog while I go do other things and enjoy myself…but I don’t do that. I’m up while some of you are sleeping, and already blogging before some of you wake up. I don’t take this for granted. I know to stay on top, I have to constantly work and nobody will be as dedicated as I am because this is not their own thing. It’s mine and I have to keep feeding it. So I’m constantly here!
Young ladies, I promise you…you too can do this. You don’t need to spread your legs for any bladdy man – because of how much? N200k? That’s how much my shoes cost – so why should you give up your body for that? Your sacred body? God’s temple? N200k that you can make in a week or even in a day if you pursue your dreams and still have your dignity intact? You think people don’t see that you’re messing around with all dem old married men and talking about it? Think ladies, think! When next a man propositions you…tell him to get lost, that you will get yours yourself! Abi, aren’t you a woman? You know what they say about women? “A woman is like a tea bag, you never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water.”. You are so strong, you don’t even know!
Also, if you want God to bless you, you have to have a clean heart. All these backbiting, hating on others, trying to bring people down with hateful words/actions etc – God doesn’t like ugly. He has over 6 billion people to look after and you think he will pay extra attention to you if your heart is ugly? Wish people well, help people when you can. Be good to others. But more than anything else be good to yourself. Believe in yourself. It’s very easy to give in to feelings of self-doubt and back down when things get tough, but you have to know that God will not give you anything you can’t handle.
I swear to you, you are underestimating yourself. If you know the power that you have inside. If you know the things that you are capable of. If you know how far you can go…how high you can reach but you are holding yourself back because you’re afraid of failing, because you don’t think you have it in you. If only you know that you’re stronger than you think. You are so powerful, you don’t even know it. I’m not more special than you are. I don’t have two heads. We serve the same God. Why can’t you succeed? Think ladies, think.
Like Barack Obama’s sister said, poverty is not an excuse! I used to sell/market beer at Sheraton hotel, Lagos when I was in university for N1,000 a day. I once lived on ‘puff puff’ and garri for weeks in UNILAG and I was supposedly a top model but nobody knew what I was going through.
Trust me, I knew poverty. Did you know I lived in Idi-oro, Mushin for 15 years? Up until when I was 25? Did you live in Mushin? Eh, so what’s your excuse? I can’t even say some things here for my family’s privacy but here I am today because I never doubted myself and I never allowed all the doubters to distract me. I was focused. I was determined. I worked hard and I knew the God I served won’t let me down. The road was long, sometimes very frustrating and painful but look at me now. God did it because he saw that I was willing!
“Because I am a woman, I must make unusual efforts to succeed. If I fail, no one will say, “She doesn’t have what it takes.” They will say, “Women don’t have what it takes.”
Please believe in yourself and watch God use you to set as an example for others.
May all your dreams come true!
Kisses.
Oh by the way (addressing the argument I read online this weekend) I don’t do anything else. I blog from 4am till midnight, where do I have time to do anything else? When God wants to bless you, He will bless you…even if you’re selling toothpick.
Cheers!

AWAKENED YOUTH - Christ Vision Ministries Int'l

Message to be delivered anywhere>><<<
Text: Romans 13:11

Rom 13:11  And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

Rom 13:12  The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

Rom 13:13  Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

Rom 13:14  But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof.

In order to awake from sleep, it is very important to know what time it is? You cannot wake a man up at the middle of the night when there’s no cause for alarm; if you do, he will simply tell you ‘why are you disturbing me.’
Rom 13:11 says “and that, knowing the time, that NOW it is high time…” So, if I ask you what the time NOW is?, it will be wrong for you to tell me the time on your wrist watch, it will be equally wrong to give the time on your calendar. Even the global (world) time will equally be wrong no matter how accurate you think it is. Let it be that you have synchronize it with the CNN, internet or web time, they will all be wrong.
Correct time is not determined by the world leaders, events or seasons, rather it’s determined by the word of God. The Bible says it is HIGH TIME. (Romans 13:11)
Spiritual leaders, Bishops, G.Os, Pastors, and Prophets may tall you their time but as far as God is concerned NOW is the High Time! Not the time for Jubilation, Celebration, Convocation, or the likes; rather it is the High Time to awake out of sleep.
Sub-topic:
What time is it?
1.  Perilous Time (e.g. 2Tim 3:1)  This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. Perilous means very dangerous; involving exposure to very great danger.
2.  Departing or Latter Time (e.g. 1Tim 4:1)  Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.
3.  Unthinking Time (e.g. Mat 24:44)  Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
4.  Acceptable Time (e.g. Isa 61:2)  To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD. Before the time of God’s vengeance shall come acceptable time. However, the Acceptable time is called the NOW time. 2Cor 6:2 says; (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.). When you miss NOW Time, you miss it all. The Grace of God is available Now.
5.  Vengeance Time (e.g. Isa 61:2b)     ..The day of vengeance of our God;

Awakened Youth! How?
It is important that there are two ways to awake from sleep.
1.  Wake up yourself
2.  Someone wakes you up.
If any man would not wake up by the two ways to wake–up, then it is to be believed the fellow is not alive.
1.  Wake up yourself: (Matthew 25:5,7). This requires self determination and commitment. Wake up from slumbering, lukewarmness, and sleeping. It’s a moment of self examination and cross checking.
a.   Wake up from sluggishness Proverbs 18 : 9
b.   Wake up from idleness
c.   Wake up from laziness Proverbs 6 : 6 – 11
d.   Wake up from unseriousness Matthew 25 : 26
e.   Wake up from bad attitudes
f.    Wake up from societal influence
g.   Wake up from non-foresightedness
h.   Wake up from non-pursuit of future

2.  Someone wakes you up. That’s also called Revival. We all need this. It takes God oftentimes to perform this act. However, there are some others medium by which a youth / fellow can be awakened;
a.   Challenges wake-up
b.   Difficulty wake-up
c.   Inferiority wake-up
d.   Character wake-up
e.   Emotional wake-up
f.    Society wake-up

g.   Expectations wake-up
